🎂Akira's 9th Birthday outfit: Kirby Inspired!🎮
Akira turned 9th this year!! For her birthday theme, we went with Kirby!
Making the Outfit
Every time I have a holiday to sew for her, I have to reinvent the wheel. You see, Akira is hard-pressed to wear anything besides t-shirts, sweaters, and leggings! So, when I make outfits for her, I have to keep that in mind!
I used my own Touka Sweater in a 9/10Y for my very petite kiddo so the sleeves are a wee long, but I know she’ll grow into them pretty quickly!
I made a facing for the front bodice in red, and then another one for the mouth opening, and sandwiched in a pink tongue so that it gave that impression of Kirby “eating” things when she puts things in her pocket!
I also added in some drop inseam pockets to make it look like the little red boots that Kirby wears! Plus, I made her a matching face mask to wear to school (which her sisters promptly requested as well!)
The legging I made with Spoonflower, using a design I drew out and then stacked a bunch, a bunch, a bunch, adding in her name throughout as well! Since it’s pretty chilly here in March, I lined the leggings in red fleece so she can wear them in winter when she really should be wearing jeans (she hates jeans, lol).
And that’s about it!
We took photos near our “go-to” area in SE PDX and Sephira helped out keeping her silly, happy, and motivated since she tends to tire of taking pictures pretty quickly!
Can’t believe she turns 10 years old next year!!! Feels like she was a tiny baby just a few months ago!!!
Welp! Until next time!
Hugs + Stitches,
Kat
