⌈Lookbook! Lookbook!⌋ Key-inspired cosplay for PR&P's 💜Very Peri💜 Pantone Party!

💜Time for the Project Run & Play Pantone Party again!💜 The Color of the Year for 2022 is “Very Peri” and I made a custom fabric design, courtesy of Raspberry Creek Fabrics (affiliate link), using the exact hex code for this year’s color! It was a lot of fun drafting and designing the whole look (inspired by this stage look) and Sephira and I are so squeaky giddy over the end result! 😊

❌☎ Don't Call Me Inspired! 💛Project Run & Play Pantone Party 2021!💛

💛Hey there!💛 This month, Project Run & Play is doing a Pantone Party with the Colors of the Year: Illuminating & Ultimate Gray and today is my day to share! I was teamed up with a pretty local fabric shop KnitFabric.com who was gracious enough to supply me with all of my fabric needs. The theme I chose is inspired by SHINee’s latest comeback, “The Ringtone” which features lots of yellow (and black). I opted to change your perspective on what these colors can become under unnatural lighting, after all, we here at Sew Chibi tend to lean towards the unnatural side of things! I hope you’ll enjoy this adventure of an other-worldly photoshoot!

Project Run & Play Shop Grand Opening Tour: My Moto Jacket

Have you heard the news about the Grand Opening of the Project Run & Play Shop? It's an exclusive shop where you can shop the patterns created by past designers used during their season of Project Run & Play! Isn't that cool?!  (keep your eyes peeled for some Sew Chibi Patterns popping up in the shop come Fall/Winter 2018!) To commemorate, Audrey is hosting a past designers blog tour! I choose to do the Moto Jacket by A Jennuine Life in a variety of basic color box colored vinyls and other fabrics to make a bold statement piece for my rapidly growing, almost 11 year old 😱😭.

Week 4: 🌈Our Kawaii Life!🦄

Six years ago, if you told me I'd be one of the final 3 designers on Project Run & Play, I'm not sure I would have believed you! This is totally one of those "pinch me, this can't be real" moments! I'm forever grateful to everyone who has supported and cheered me on! It's been a staggeringly talented season and each designer really gave it their all! I've been hoping to make it to this week because I really wanted to let loose! In the words of last season's winner, Pearberry Lane: this is us! We're silly, expressive, purposefully mismatched, happy, and a little weird! We're constantly evolving and learning new cultures and trying new ideas out and so I wanted to create a collection that reflects just that! I call this summery collection Our Kawaii Life!

Week 3: Action Go!

Excited to finally share this week's Stripes themed looks! Of all the challenges this season, I think I was most anticipating this one because it gave me a chance to change my perspective on something we see every day! Each week, I wanted to try out different moods: the first week was a bit moody and French, last week was super girly and cute, and this week it's about cool, idol-inspired fashion... but for girls! Always a fan of the series, "Boys Can Wear Pink", I thought about how to do something that would have a similar message, but for girls! It's empowering for them to see themselves in hip, urban streetwear in addition to the pretty dresses because it gives them a chance to appreciate different facets of what makes them awesome individuals! For motivation, while designing my stripes looks, I watched what I watch a lot of every day: Asian pop music videos, especially those from Taiwan and Japan! Paired up with my longtime love of optical illusions, I created fashion for my girls that they could wear on a summery Friday night, hanging out with friends in the city, playing vintage video games at the arcade, then catching a movie at one of the retro theaters nearby.

Week 2: 🍦 Ice Cream & Sundays! 🎀

This week, the challenge was to design and create something entirely from your preexisting stash of fabrics! I wanted to make some really sweet, super playful and girly looks! The fashion I like to make my kiddos is reflective of their bubbly and silly personalities: bright, diverse, and, most importantly, with a sense of humor. So for my 4 year old, I wanted to make something that I knew she would love: 🍦Ice Cream🍦! To pair up with the chartreuse neoprene, I wanted the ice cream part to be bubblegum pink. I looked to my stash for a print that would complement those two colors and chose a pink floral (as well as a matching pinkish red polka-dot cotton fabric) for an outfit for my 6-year-old. "Where are these girls (in these dresses) going?" Brunch! These two little ladies are getting all dressed up for a Sunday afternoon in downtown Portland, in one of the many hipster neighborhoods, the Hawthorne district, enjoying some eats and stopping at a few shops along the way! So that's why I decided to call this week: Ice Cream and Sundays (pun intended! 😊)

Project Run & Play! Week 1: 🎪Circus🎪

Today is a super special day.

As soon as I started Sew Chibi 6 years ago, I followed Project Run & Play. It was the most integral part of socializing among the sewing community back then and without it, I doubt I would have met and become close with so many of my favorite bloggers. It's been a forever dream to be asked to be a designer so this, all of this, fills me with so much emotion and drives me to do every single thing I can do to give you all a good show, full of surprises throughout the competition (hopefully throughout the competition 😉). So, without further ado, I present my Circus Week Collection entitled "Mon Cirque des Petites Filles" (my circus of little girls).
