Espeon & Sylveon Reversible Roly Poly Tunic and Giveaway!

So I think it's no secret that {affiliate linkRachael is one of my favorite people ever.  Sidenote, I got to hang out with her a couple times when she was here for Quilt Market and it was pretty stellar!  She's a totally honest person and such a selfless friend.  Not to mention she makes some pretty amazing clothes!!!!  Her designs and pattern combinations are whimsical and thoughtful.  I'm pretty keen to everything she makes!! So check out this pattern of hers. I tested it a few months ago and I loved it.

Um, first drafted pattern, and she totally nailed it. So to revisit this incredibly versatile pattern I went to what my kiddo loves: POKEMON!

I went through a bunch of her books and some more research together online and we choose:

I had soooo much trouble trying to get this little guy right!  I tried a whole bunch of other stuff and it wasn't working so I went with straight applique.  Please don't hate ;-)

The bricky pink color is from this A-MAZING new (well new to me) little discount vintage fabric and trim shop I found not too far from my house!  And that muslin I was gifted from Ari (well exactly, it was a sweet little gift certificate!)

I am sad to say i messed up on this guy two times!!! This third time came out great I think!

Time for baby photobomb (p.s. those Hosh pants go with eeeeverything!) So that's it!!!!

...

or is it???

did I mention it's reversible!

I didn't take advantage of that last time I made one, so I definitely had to this time!

I decided after topstitching that it didn't look like cartoon-y enough, so I decided to fill in the area from the topstitching to the edge in black fabric marker on both sides.  LOVE the way it looks now.

A few more things to note:

  • I blended and blended clay for the buttons and still felt it wasn't "perfect" but it's feasible!

  • That headband is from Sephira's Sugglepunk Outfit.

I didn't have any black pants for Azy so I made some quick Hosh pants with the same Black Milk-like fabric from the above said outfit and made them into a two-toned look at the bottom.

Needless to say it was a big hit!!!

I love the little pockets on both sides!!!

See you soon!

Hugs + Stitches,

Kat
