White + Holographic Easter!

Another Easter passed during the pandemic! Last year was a really bizarre one for everyone, us included, but after a year of self-quarantining, we learned how to make the best of things! I wanted to do something colorful but in a different way than I’d done in the past. Originally, the plan was holographic vinyl and neon elastic cording and white but I found it impossible to find colorful cording that wasn’t super skinny (and that was just not the look I was going for!). So I ended up having to quickly change up some of my plans!

❌☎ Don't Call Me Inspired! 💛Project Run & Play Pantone Party 2021!💛

💛Hey there!💛 This month, Project Run & Play is doing a Pantone Party with the Colors of the Year: Illuminating & Ultimate Gray and today is my day to share! I was teamed up with a pretty local fabric shop KnitFabric.com who was gracious enough to supply me with all of my fabric needs. The theme I chose is inspired by SHINee’s latest comeback, “The Ringtone” which features lots of yellow (and black). I opted to change your perspective on what these colors can become under unnatural lighting, after all, we here at Sew Chibi tend to lean towards the unnatural side of things! I hope you’ll enjoy this adventure of an other-worldly photoshoot!

🎄Xmas Eve Hanbok!

For Christmas Eve this year, we decided on a Korean Hanbok theme! The girls got to pick the fabrics they wanted: elephants for Akira (of course); for Azriella, a beautiful African print from House of Mami Wata (I am in no way sponsored by them, but if you haven’t checked them out, you really need to… right now!), and for Sephira, now also known as ‘lil shawol’ because she’s a massive SHINee fan like her Mamma and Daddy, she picked a look inspired by Taemin’s recent Music Video: IDEA.

💎chibi Taemin "Criminal" Lookbook! + Ender and Cake Dragons!

This year I made an Ender Dragon from Minecraft, a Cake Dragon from Roblox, and chibi Lee Taemin “Criminal” cosplay! Further down this post, you’ll see the pictures of my dragon girls, but for my chibi Taemin, I made a special Lookbook describing the whole process and backstory on the outfit! I hope you enjoy them! Please take a peek and tell me how you think it came out!

🌈Pattern Release! 👽 The Touka Sweater + FREE PATTERN: Drawstring Charms!

Sometimes, amazing patterns stay in the vaults for way too long. I drafted the first version of the Touka Sweater in October 2017 for Halloween sweaters for my kiddos. It quickly became my go-to pattern for sweater-making because it was so quick and so easy. I used it for almost every holiday at least once since then! I was constantly putting other newer patterns ahead of the Touka until a few months ago when I declared the time was neigh! I must turn the Touka Sweater I’d loved for so long into a real-life pattern!

💎chibi Taemin! A Sayonara Hitori birthday request!

It’s no secret that we are heavily influenced by Asian pop culture around here. We are a helpless fangirl family who are forever inspired by it all, from anime to Aaron Yan, Saiki K. to SHINee… honestly, it’s rare to hear us listen to anything in English! I am sooooo behind sharing things that I made for fun in the past few years but I thought I might break the cycle by sharing Sephira’s birthday outfit request: Lee Tae Min’s opening outfit from Sayonara Hitori.

(Disclaimer, I am not affiliated with anything SHINee or Taemin related nor is any of this for sale or anything like that. Just a post about a momma Shawol, sewing for her baby shawol. ❤)

a Very SHINee XMAS Eve: Flame of Love, Dream Girl, + Married to the music

It’s holiday time again! The theme was “A Very SHINee Xmas” and the girls each picked a look from one of their music videos for their outfit inspiration! This year we hadn’t gotten a real chance to take a lot of pictures so I only did a re-shoot with Sephira’s Flame of Love outfit since I had zero good ones of her! I plan on doing some more of Azriella’s Dream Girl outfit at some point if she’s up for it!
