The Vivie Dress PDF Pattern by Blaverry. The Vivie was actually the first Blaverry pattern I ever bought! I was searching frantically for a first day of school dress to make for Azriella the day before school was set to start! I found the Vivie, fell in love with the Blaverry patterns on a whole and it is one of my favorite, everyday dresses for Azriella at this age. It just fits her so well! I never blogged it because I was busy making her birthday dress then the cavalcade of Halloween sewing so I never got a chance to give it a proper photo-shoot!

One way I curbed my kids from spreading their germs to everyone in the house (and outsiders!) was to make a sick mask that aided us from those nasty colds! And I gotta say, it did help. It does not replace coughing into your elbows, but it does help contain the amount of spreading.
Now these aren’t just for flu season, these are GREAT for costumes and Halloween too! I drafted a FREE PDF pattern for little kids, big kids, and older kids/ adults so that everyone is covered.
Pun intended 😉

I love summer in the Northwest: there's no lack of adventure and it's all pretty much in my backyard! My favorite thing to see my girlies in during these sun-soaked days are simple twirly sundresses, so when Melly asked me to be a part of her 30 days of sundresses tour I, for real, did a happy dance. I decided to make a pattern and tutorial based on one of my first drafted patterns!
When I think about the girls twirling in their dresses in the backyard or traipsing along a wooded trail, it reminds me of the Japanese fashion trend: Mori Girl which basically means "forest girl". The Mori Girl Sundress is a free pattern I made with a tutorial on how to sew with an adjustable neckline, tassle drawstrings, and a circle skirt gathered with elastic.

Read MoreI told myself that I wouldn’t go over the top; that I want to keep Sew Geeky a little more casual so that I don’t burn myself out trying to outdo myself every month. It’s exhausting! It also makes me struggle to make other things; the essential things. BUT STUDIO GHIBLI?! I could not go small. I just couldn’t! Ugh, I am my own worst enemy, I know! Narrowing it down was incredibly hard. I have the urge to STUDIO GHIBLI ALL THE THINGS!

In a nutshell, my whole life I've been a cartoon addict. No lie. I recorded my faves on VHS when I was a teenager and I have never really stopped watching them!
But as you get older you learn to appreciate new things and I fell, similar to Alice, down the rabbit hole, into the world of anime.

So who here is a former angsty teenager from the 90s? I was! I was the only kid in school wearing patent leather pants in every color and donning a choker necklace made out of safety pins and I listened to punk and ska music and loved every minute of it! The grown up Kat loves those things still, but I've evolved since then. But ain't nostalgia grand! Well, TANK GiRL is like a time capsule for me of my high school days (even though TANK GiRL came out just before I started high school). The thing about TANK GiRL is that she's a bad girl. She smokes, she loves guns and ahem her tank and she dresses far on the risque side of things. Being that I'm a mom and am not into any of those things, I made my look and accessories more of a TANK GiRL: the Mom.
