This week, the challenge was to design and create something entirely from your preexisting stash of fabrics! I wanted to make some really sweet, super playful and girly looks! The fashion I like to make my kiddos is reflective of their bubbly and silly personalities: bright, diverse, and, most importantly, with a sense of humor. So for my 4 year old, I wanted to make something that I knew she would love: 🍦Ice Cream🍦! To pair up with the chartreuse neoprene, I wanted the ice cream part to be bubblegum pink. I looked to my stash for a print that would complement those two colors and chose a pink floral (as well as a matching pinkish red polka-dot cotton fabric) for an outfit for my 6-year-old. "Where are these girls (in these dresses) going?" Brunch! These two little ladies are getting all dressed up for a Sunday afternoon in downtown Portland, in one of the many hipster neighborhoods, the Hawthorne district, enjoying some eats and stopping at a few shops along the way! So that's why I decided to call this week: Ice Cream and Sundays (pun intended! 😊)
Time to cozy up! BAKA the Hooded Blanket PDF Pattern is a floor length hooded blanket that is perfect for lounging around the house with a new video game, a good book, or just ―\_(ツ)_/― !!! Add-ons include puff antlers and paint on face templates! (not intended as sleepwear!) For boys and girls, ages 12M-16Y...heck, even some adults! (check the size chart to see if it could work!)
I have something super special to share today!!! Over the past month I've been working on the first ever, Sew Chibi Designs Lookbook!
kira! kira! kira! vol. 1
This sparkly, happy magazine features all of my handmade works over the past year including my favorites: Halloween, Christmas Eve, and Easter! I also made a couple of DIYs for making your own Ziggy Stardust cape (or any floor length, snap front cape), + a super easy fabric ukelele strap! I also created all of the graphics and drawings too!
I hope you like it!!! 🖤
This is the stuff dreams are made of! Announcing the GRAND OPENING of my SEW CHIBI DESIGNS PDF PATTERN SHOP featuring my first pattern: the ZOU Playset! It consists of two patterns (also sold separately!):

It doesn't seem that long ago that I made a rainbow inspired 5th birthday outfit, and, as irony would have it, I have done it yet again! That was the challenge: how to make an equally beautiful rainbow-inspired outfit without being repetitive. These girls are so unique; they truly have their own styles and personalities! Sephira is a free spirit that is candid with pretty much everything! I tried hard to tie in all the things she wanted (she frequently wants to be at least seven different things all at once) and keep it cohesive.
It's one of my FAVORITE times of the year! HALLOWEEN!! While I am in the middle of making all the things for the kiddos, I thought it'd be quite festive to do a list of my favorite cosplay/dress-up posts of all time! So! Let's get STARTED and check out my spooky, top 13 dress-up posts ever!!
The French macarons are some of the most beautiful desserts around and we love indulging in them! I had had the notion for a while that it would be so sweet (ha!) to make a trio of delectable dresses someday. When springtime came around, I went to my party dress pattern stash and found the Caroline Dress! I knew I'd have to do a generous amount of planning and redrafting but it but soooo worth it in the end!
Hello, friends! Happy Springtime! I just made something I love. Who doesn't love a cute pair of leggings? I just fell for these woodland creature leggings pattern by Coffee + Thread called the "Wild & Free Leggings". Now while I did get the pattern for free, all of the opinions are completely my own!
We go all out for Christmas Eve. I make special dresses for the girls and then pajamas for everyone for Christmas Day! This year the theme was tangrams. I custom designed fabric through Spoonflower and used the Madelyn pattern by Violette Fields Threads as a base for the dress bodice. I used Kona cottons for all of the skirts and collars which I paper pieced and drafted myself. While it was quite a long process to plan out, I couldn't have asked for better results! I figured now would be a good time to share them because it's just in time for the Kids Clothes Week Challenge this Spring: TOYS edition!
So I love classic looks with a wacky modern twist. That's my thing, that's my go-to combo. So, for me, I had to think of a way to make this idea of Shirley Temple work with my personal aesthetic in which wouldn't involve 100+ yards of gathering fabric for a pettiskirt. I mean, I love the look of them on my kiddos but the time intensiveness of making one at the moment was a bit overwhelming! I thought then about what other things I love on pics of child fashion from yesteryear that you don't see so every day. And I love Korean kids fashion. I mean, I'm a bit obsessed.
